Verdict 2015 (Cape Blend)

Winemaker's notes
The Verdict is a Cape Blend consisting out of 80% Cabernet Franc, 13% Pinotage and 7% Merlot. All varietals are harvested on La Petite Ferme and barrel matured in French oak for 12 months. The Cab Franc gives the wine a solid backbone and structured palate while the Pinotage and Merlot lifts the wine with good fruit expression. A lovely soft spicy finish also lingers in the background.
Winemaking
Cab Franc, Merlot and Pinotage vinified separately and matured in French oak for 12 months. Cabernet Franc and Merlot blended and put back in older barrels for further 6 months. Wood maturation: French oak 18months

Winemaker's notes
A Merlot that is subtle, complex, elegant and firm in each glass. This is a wine that lures you in with elements of cherry fruits, buchu, peppermint chocolate and mocha. The wine also spends 12 months on French oak which is integrated elegantly and delivers good weight on the mid-palate and finishing off with firm powdery tannins. A complex , but balanced wine with great versatility.

Picked between 25.0- 25.5 Balling Fermentation in open fermenters for 10 days, cap punched down manually every 5 hours. Wood maturation: 225L French Oak barrels for 12months, 25%new

This Shiraz is a balanced and elegantly crafted wine, but yet still complex enough to keep your attention. It delivers dark fruit flavours of succulent ripe plums and cherry while combining with the classic white pepper and warm winter spices like cinnamon and nutmeg. The wine also shows firm round tannins from spending 12 months in French oak.

Winemaker's notes
The Cabernet Sauvignon shows itself in a beautiful garnet colour. The wine has been wooded in French oak barrels for 12 months which lends it the pencil shaving and cigar box characteristics on both the nose as well as the palate. Those firm aromas are closely followed and complemented by dark fruit flavours of cassis and black berries.

La Petite Ferme Barrel Fermented Chardonnay

Barrel Fermented Chardonnay 2016

Winemaker's notes
This Chardonnay is made from 50% of our Franschhoek estate grapes and 50% from Elim(Agulhas). On the nose it has a warm inviting beurre noizette (burnt butter) and roasted almond notes from the time it spent in wood. Fresh ripe pineapple and green apple flavours follows onto the palate. A well balanced and complex wine combining fresh citrus and classic rich buttery Chardonnay aromas.
Winemaking
Grapes from different sites picked separately and at different sugars to highlight differences in our terroir. Matured in 1st 2nd and 3rd fill barrels for 7 months. Barrels stirred every second week for 3 months.

Winemaker's notes
The 2016 La Petite Ferme Sauvignon Blanc is a blend that consists of 85% Sauvignon Blanc and 15% Nouvelle with both varietals coming from the La Petite Ferme vineyards in Franschhoek. Sauvignon Blanc grapes from our higher vineyards lends fresh and clean mineral notes of lime and citrus which is also complemented by the nouvelle. The lower vineyard grapes shows more tropical fruit like pineapple and litchi which makes this a perfect summer wine.
Winemaking
The grapes are from different sites, picked separately and at different sugar levels to highlight the differences in our terroir. The Nouvelle was picked early to add to the freshness and citrus.

Winemaker's notes
An elegant yet firm Viognier wine that produces flavours of apricot and pawpaw on the nose which is closely followed by floral notes of rose geranium that guides you on to the palate where you find subtle fresh citrus flavours. The structured palate makes this a great food wine. This is a wine that is balanced between good fruity flavours, fresh citrus aromas and a balanced firm structure, a good all round wine.
Winemaking
Grapes picked at 23.5 Balling No skin contact, ,pressed and fermented in 100% Stainless steel using a variety of yeasts. Left on the fine lees to mature for 3months with occasional stirring to develop a full rich body. 2% matured in old French barrels for 5 months

Baboon Rock Un-wooded Chardonnay 2016

Winemaker's notes
The La Petite Ferme Baboon Rock 2016 is an unwooded chardonnay made from 100% top quality chardonnay grapes harvested in the Robertson area. A perfect example of what you would expect to find from an unwooded chardonnay, initially delivering fresh and crisp flavours like lemon peel and green apple finishing with a slight, but rich nuttiness. With the grapes coming from a hotter climate, you can also expect to find some lovely lingering floral notes which pulls it all together and makes this wine a real complete sensory experience.
Winemaking
Picked between 22.8-23.5 Balling. Cold fermentation retains freshness. Left on fine lees for 4months. Closure Stelvin.

La Petite Ferme Maison Rosé

Maison Rosé 2015 - SOLD OUT

Winemaker's notes
The La Petite Ferme Maison Rosé is mostly made from Merlot which was whole bunch pressed and removed from the skins immediately to create the light salmon pink colour. Just a touch of Sauvignon Blanc was added to the wine which lends a crisp finish. You also pick up aromas of rose petal, strawberry and Turkish delight on the nose with the same flavours following through onto the palate.
Winemaking
Picked between 19- 23 Balling, Crushed and cold pressed. Fermented in Stainless steel tanks. 98% Merlot and 2% Sauvignon Blanc
