Ester grew up in Boksburg, Johannesburg. She also attended school in the area and started playing around in the kitchen from a young age. She comes from a tight knit family who loves spending time together and getting together for big family meals, this is where her love for cooking originated. While making food with her family she discovered that cooking was her passion from a early age.
After school she had no doubt about what she wanted to do and she immediately pursued her passion for cooking. She did her Professional Diploma in chef training with HTA, the Hospitality Training Association of South Africa, training as an in house apprentice. This was done over a period of 3 years.
She has now been in the hospitality industry for around 16 years in total and has picked up experience in a range of different sectors of the industry. She has worked in the kitchens of small intimate catering companies to busy mainstream hotels as well as game reserves across South Africa.
She has now been working at La Petite Ferme since November 2015. This is where she loves applying her skills as a tapas chef and also where she again found that family feeling she had as a young girl in the kitchen back home. Her passion, love, drive and genuine interest in the art of food is what keeps her love growing for the industry each day.
