Joubertsgat Bridge Loop
One of our favourite hikes is the circular route offered by the Jan Joubert’s Gat Bridge loop. Not only will you enjoy the wonderful diversity of the Fynbos landscape, but you will also experience some local history.
‘The five-meter span of the bridge crosses over the gorge named Jan Joubert’s Gat. It was completed in 1825 and was originally part of the first proper road over the Franschhoekberg. Interestingly, the bridge was also one of the first built in South Africa and is still in use today.
Berg River Dam
The Berg River Dam offers a great outing with various outdoor activities and an abundant birdlife. Enjoy the hiking trails, conquer a challenging cycle, or take along a picnic basket for a more leisurely afternoon out.
