Join Us For An African Adventure Culinary Safari
There’s no better way to ease into winter than with a table full of flavour, a glass of something special, and the warmth of good company.
That’s exactly what you can expect at La Petite Ferme’s African Adventure evening on Friday, 23 May – part of our exciting calendar of themed culinary events.
Designed to explore the rich diversity of flavours across Africa, this wine-paired dinner offers guests a sensory safari unlike any other.
An African Adventure Evening
Expect to travel from the streets of Soweto with our take on Runaway Chicken (a much-loved dish spiced with peri-peri and grilled until beautifully charred), to the heart of Cameroon, where cassava and plantain anchor dishes in comfort and culture. Cassava, a root vegetable, is steamed or boiled to resemble potato, while plantains are a close cousin of bananas – often sliced and fried until golden.
Africa is a continent celebrated for its spice – think Berbere, Suya, Ras el Hanout and Cape Malay curry blends. Each adds a story to the plate, with hints of cinnamon, cloves, chilli, ginger and paprika weaving through.
To balance the boldness, we’ll be pairing some of our favourite wines from the La Petite Ferme cellar. Our Baboon Rock Grenache Noir brings gentle spice and red berry brightness, while the Viognier and Sauvignon Blanc offer a crisp counterpoint to richer dishes.
A Friday Night Worth Booking In Advance
Our themed evenings are quickly becoming the most anticipated dates on the Franschhoek dining calendar. With curated pairings, chef-led storytelling and the chance to explore ingredients from around the world, there’s no need to wonder what to book next.
Looking Back Into The Future on Friday, 30 May is a treat for wine lovers. This experience invites guests to compare well-aged vintages with pre-releases from our cellar. Our Verdict and Variation blends, both barrel-aged, are especially beautiful as they mature, while our fresh and lively Rosé and Unwooded Chardonnay shine brightest when young.
Un Voyage Culinaire
The next tantalising treat for your tastebuds is on Friday, 6 June – prepare for our French Fusion evening. It’s a nod to Franschhoek’s French roots, featuring preserved vegetables, confit meats and a hearty bouillabaisse. Expect an elegant match with our Chardonnay, Shiraz and Cabernet Sauvignon.
Each of our themed evenings begins at 18:00 for 18:30, with a welcome drink on the lawn as the valley lights begin to twinkle. Priced at R1650 per person or R2050 with wine pairing, our Chef’s Table experiences are curated to delight diners who love both storytelling and invigorating their senses. Our wine evenings are priced at R 600 per person with light snacks included.
Whichever Friday you join us, it’s more than a meal or wine tasting. It’s a brief escapism experience – a reason to gather, celebrate and return again.
Book your seat at La Petite Ferme’s African Adventure evening and enjoy a journey through the continent’s flavours.
